East Boulder
The kitchen was the last room in the house to be remodeled and Knotty Alder and slate prevailed throughout. The style the clients asked for was “Rustic, Asian, Contemporary.” Really? Well, I think we got there. We continued the Knotty Alder cabinets and added limestone to the backsplash (rustic), top-hinged glass front cabinets with a strong horizontal trim/shelf element (Asian) and a fresh, Contemporary layout with glass mosaic tile. Most importantly, we cantilevered the sink area out 2 feet (plus a nice new big window) to give us enough space to add a full island. The kitchen now functions so much better for this active young family with lots of people in and around their newly remodeled family space.
